Visiting Miami Beach with Your Family

Every time we hold the ISAPS Congress, the premier global aesthetic meeting in the world, we make sure that it’s located in a world-class city. Two years ago, we were in Kyoto, Japan, and the Congress was a huge success, and not just because of the renowned ISAPS Plastic Surgeons who attended. Many of our attendees took advantage of the Congress to plan an epic family vacation in one of the most interesting and fast-paced cities in the world.

Well, this year we are again in one of the greatest locations in the world: Florida. And our host city of Miami Beach is the home of some of the most beautiful beaches and waters you’ve ever seen. With the variety of attractions in Miami (and elsewhere in Florida), the ISAPS 2018 Congress again offers our plastic surgeons an ideal opportunity to combine the professional opportunities of the Congress with a fantastic family vacation. Here are just some of the attractions that you and your family could visit on your trip to Miami Beach!

The Beaches
Imagine that, Miami Beach has nice beaches!

We’ve talked about the stunning beaches here before, but not all of them have a focus on families. There are many family-focused beaches that you can visit in the area, including South Beach (considered to be one of the best in the world, but perhaps a little crowded), North Hollywood Beach Park (perfect for BBQs), and Matheson Hammock Park Beach (which has a man-made lagoon that’s perfect for small children). Of course, the reality is that families are welcome on every beach in Miami Beach, so feel free to simply step out of the ocean-front Loews Miami Beach Hotel and take a stroll down to the water.

Zoo Miami
Everyone loves a zoo! At Zoo Miami, there are over 3000 animals from all over the world, in wide open-air exhibits. You and your family will have a chance to feed the animals, watch wildlife shows, and learn all about the wildlife from many different regions of the Earth. There is even a children’s zoo for the little ones!

Miami Children’s Museum
Although fun for all ages, the 56,000-square-foot Miami Children’s Museum really shines for younger children. With its many different interactive areas, your kids will have a delightful time playing and learning about the world around them. They can indulge their artistic side at All About Art and the Music Makers Studio. If they love to build, they can visit the Construction Zone to explore how buildings are really constructed. And they will be entranced by the Castle of Dreams, a two-story sand castle! You can find hours of fun at the Miami Children’s Museum!

Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science
The newest attraction on this list, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is an incredible experience that everyone should visit, whether you have children or not. It’s built around a three-story indoor and outdoor aquarium, allowing you to get an unparalleled view of aquatic life, such as sharks and devil rays. Other exhibits include a planetarium and an exploration of the Everglades, one of the most precious and fascinating ecosystems on Earth.

Everglades National Park
If your family can’t get enough of the outdoors and wildlife, a trip to the Everglades National Park is definitely in order! The largest sub-tropical wilderness in the U.S., it is also a World Heritage Site and a Wetland of International Importance. You can gaze out at the lush flora (including 39 species of orchids and three species of mangrove) from the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center, watch roseate spoonbills feed as you canoe Nine Mile Pond, hear a southern leopard frog during a stroll along the Tamiami Trail, and swim with damselfish while you snorkel Molasses Reef!

Disney World and Orlando
Of course, when many people think of “family” and “Florida” – they think of Disney, with good reason!

Disney World is known the world over for offering unparalleled family entertainment. The home of four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom) and two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach), as well as phenomenal dining and shopping destinations, most families wouldn’t consider visiting Florida without spending a few days at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”

Disney World is only one of the major attractions in Orlando. Universal Orlando Resort offers two theme parks (Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure) and a water park (Volcano Bay). You can also visit another world-famous theme park at SeaWorld Orlando.

The trip from Miami Beach to Orlando is 235 miles (378 km), so plan accordingly. Due to the three-hour drive there and back, you may want to book accommodations in Orlando if you are planning on spending more than a day there. Although Disney World offers some amazing hotels, there is no shortage of accommodation elsewhere in Orlando that you may be able to find for a more reasonable price.

If you are thinking about taking your family with you to the ISAPS 2018 Congress, we hope that this list helps you plan some amazing adventures for them. There are so many exciting and family-friendly things to do in Miami Beach that your spouse and kids will have no problem occupying themselves while you’re at the Congress. And then, once the Congress is over, you will have the chance to explore all of these attractions with them, creating a family vacation that you will never forget!

Of course, to make sure that you will be able to attend the 2018 Congress, you should register as soon as possible, and book your room at our host hotel, the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Rooms will fill fast, so be sure you don’t miss your chance to attend THE premiere global aesthetic meeting with some of the most esteemed ISAPS Plastic Surgeons from around the world!
