10 Fun Things to Do With Your Family Outside of Miami

One of the fantastic things about ISAPS Congresses is that each one is held in different, but desirable, location, all around the world. For every Congress, we look for a world-class city to host us. Last year, for example, the 2016 ISAPS Congress was held in Kyoto, Japan. The ISAPS plastic surgeons who attended, along with their families and staffs, found themselves in one of the most beautiful and culturally influential countries in the world. One of the best parts of that ISAPS Congress was that, after it was over, you could leave Kyoto to continue to explore the rest of Japan.

We are holding the 2018 ISAPS Congress in South Beach, Miami, a world-famous tourist destination and the home of some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Over the length of the Congress, you will be able to explore stunning South Beach, its architecture, cuisine and art, not to mention engage in the finest aesthetic education experience in the world. But what about when the Congress is over? You and your family are still in Florida, so it would be a shame not to take advantage and explore some of the incredible attractions all over the state! Here are 10 suggestions of attractions that you should visit while you are touring Florida after the Congress.

Walt Disney World

Really, are you surprised that our first suggestion is Disney World?

Even though Disney parks are now located all over the world, the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is still known as the home of some of the greatest theme parks in existence. With four main parks (The Magic Kingdom, EPCOT Center, Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom), as well as three major water parks, stunningly themed hotels and countless shopping opportunities, you really can’t visit Florida without checking out Disney World.

Universal Studios

Disney’s main theme park competitor is also located in Orlando, Florida. Universal Orlando Resort is home to three theme parks (Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and the new Volcano Bay), all of which really give Disney a run for their money when it comes to originality and thrills. Universal Studios is the home of Harry Potter, the Simpsons, Jurassic Park and other movie and television properties that you might recognize.

SeaWorld Orlando

A nice change of pace from the theme parks of Universal and Disney, SeaWorld celebrates everything about the ocean, combining a zoo and thrill rides to create an experience that you and your kids won’t soon forget. With animal encounters, you will be able to see the majesty of the sea up close and personal.

Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral

Through the 60s and 70s, the space race gripped the world as Russia and the US pushed technological boundaries in an effort to beat each other to the stars. Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral is where famous American space missions, from Apollo 11 to the last Space Shuttle launch, lifted off. Here, you will be able to take a tour of the facility and enjoy a museum and exhibits exploring space exploration history.

Busch Gardens Tampa

Busch Gardens is a different kind of theme park, located in the Tampa area. With its African theme, visitors will get to go on “safari” and see exotic animals such as tigers and lions. There are also tons of rides, like roller coasters, and a lot of different shows that make it well worth the trip.

Daytona 500

Considered to be the most important race in the NASCAR Cup Series, Daytona is a world-famous race track. Although the racing will unfortunately be finished by October/November 2018, fans of NASCAR might want to check out the track and museum to see where the magic happens in person.

Everglades National Park

If you’ve ever wanted to see an alligator, you won’t get a better chance than at the Everglades National Park.

The second largest national park in the world, the Everglades are home to amazing species such as alligators, crocodiles, deer, turtles, panthers and more. If you love exploring nature, you will absolutely love the adventure offered by this national park. Make sure to take an airboat ride!

Dry Tortugas National Park

Another national park, but this one has a very different flavor.

First, you can only reach this island by boat from Key West. It takes you to Fort Jefferson, built by the United States government in the 1840s. In addition to exploring the history and architecture of the fort, Dry Tortugas National Park is also the perfect place for snorkeling and checking out some truly incredible beaches.

Salvador Dali Museum

If you are a fan of the surrealist artist Salvador Dali, you will want to visit this museum, hosting the second largest collection of his work in the world. Located in St. Petersburg, you can explore the museum by yourself or with a guide. If you call ahead, there is also the possibility of booking a tour in a variety of different languages.

World Class Golf Courses

Ok, maybe this one wouldn’t be for the kids. Unless they like golf, of course!

Florida is home to some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. There are far too many to name here, but Seminole Golf Course in Tallahassee, The Breakers in Palm Beach and the PGA National Resort and Spa in West Palm Beach, just to name a few, are some of the best.

As you can see, there is so much to do in Florida outside of South Beach that you may have to plan another trip to see it all. To ensure that you will be with us for the 2018 Congress, make sure that you register early and book your room at our host hotel, the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.
